List #67 - 5 questions I ask myself before saying yes, in order to be a better friend and person

I’m an introvert. Truly, in my heart of hearts I am. BUT, I am working very hard to be more open and accessible and, above all, a better friend. This list is my solution to the introvert problem of saying no because we’re afraid our energy will be depleted and we’re feeling “inward”. This doesn’t apply to everyday life, of course, but rather for things that I know I can do, its just my introverted self is really acting up that day.

  1. Why do you instinctively feel the need to decline?

  2. Is there something blocking your “yes”, that you can fix right now?

  3. Will you be disappointing someone? If so, then its really important you take a hard look at yourself and say yes.

  4. How can you show up as yourself, authentically, today?

This is key to not “faking a big personality”, which I’ve made the mistake of doing before.

  5. What can you do right now to give yourself a little boost?
