List #56 - 5 “wellness” habits that didn’t really work for me

A gentle reminder that this is what didn’t really work for me. It’s not hard and fast, “never-doing-this-again”, rather a way to show that everyone is different! I still try and incorporate more strength training/temperature therapy, but its certainly not imperative that I do so every day.

  1. Icy cold showers.

I really tried with this one. I even went straight for it first thing in the morning. Over time, however, I realized that I needed the soothing warmth and so returned to my boiling shower/bath combo.

  2. Mountains of protein.

This is a mixed bag for me, because eating more protein really has made me feel better. I always have a big breakfast that includes yogurt, sometimes eggs, and/or sausages. I do, however, think we need to remember that our body wants and needs variety. Vegetables and fruits are as integral to my diet as protein.

  3. Intense weight lifting.

I do strength train once or twice a week. But running makes my brain feel better, which is just as important to me. It has always been one of my favorite things to do when I’m stressed and I don’t think I’ll ever let it go.

  4. Supplements.

I love Cowboy Colostrum and have tried others in the past, including a fiber supplement and creatine. My problem is integrating them into a routine. Maybe someday I’ll be more consistent with it, but I also try to remember that a proper diet is most important.

  5. Withholding caffeine in the morning.

    Nope.
