List #58 - 5 ideas and habits I’m carrying into this year

Remembering that setting goals and veering off track is part of the process, and we can always come back to them!

  1. Money is not to be feared.

I’ve spoken about this lightly, but historically I have been fairly impulsive with money. I’ve purchased items that have made my life “noisier”, with trendy pieces and stuff that ends up becoming clutter. This has made my relationship with money one of fear and impulsivity. Not honesty and responsibility. In 2026, I am checking my bank account every day and practicing waiting before making a purchase. By checking every day I hold myself accountable and redefine my relationship with money and savings.

  2. Creativity is different from productivity.

Productivity means execution, but real creativity often exists in the peaceful, “unproductive” silence. Instead of feeling pressure or rushed to be creative and productive every single day, I’m allowing myself (when possible - I know shit needs to get done) to lean into moments when I just need to have some Deep Creative Time. No distractions.

  3. The real work is not always fun and quite messy.

Rebrands, writing, editing. Sometimes its fun and feels seamless. Sometimes its frustrating, discombobulated, and leads to the best outcomes.

  4. The way you’ve always done something doesn’t mean its right in the moment.

Basically, just because I’ve been good at sticking to a morning routine, doesn’t mean its an indicator of success every day. Sometimes you have to deviate from your habits and schedule to break into new, better ones.

  5. If you’re afraid to do it, or it makes you nervous, its the first thing you have to do.

Not new for everyone here. I’ve spoken and written about this before. But it remains a core habit for a reason.
