Curating an organized pantry that doesn’t make you anxious when you see it
I find that pantry spaces make a lot of people stressed.
They tend to be the snack/condiment version of a “junk drawer” over time, where expired vitamins and too many jars of pasta sauce stack up. Bags of chips that are mostly crumbs. Weird crackers. We tend to toss stuff back there and “get to it later”.
My secret to never having to “deal with it” is simple.
Start by separating from the beginning, and you’ll never have this problem.
I’m a big fan of “separating” in general when it comes to organization. When you separate and keep everything in bins, this allows you to truly see how much you have. When things start to pile and overflow, that’s when waste happens and you over-purchase.
You’ll see that much of our stuff is kept in either baskets or bins.
This is intentional, because when you begin to divide your things, that’s when you truly understand exactly how much “stuff” you have. And it keeps everything from overflowing.
Our pantry is divided into sections for:
Main Shelving:
Spices
Snacks
Tupperware/Containers/Storage
Grains/Root Vegetables/Nuts/Seeds
Unopened Snacks/Treats (at the very top)
Built-In Shelving on Side and Door Frame:
Cans
Condiments
Pasta/Rice
Coffee/Tea
Supplements
Baking Ingredients
I cram a lot in this well-used space, but as you can see, I use a lot of storage inside the storage. These are my favorite pantry organizers that are AMAZING for keeping that panicky feeling from cropping up whenever you open that door.
These are also great for bathroom organizing, but that’s a whole other space!
Pro tip: Turntables are KEY for maximizing space and for making sure you don’t forget and over-purchase!
The best for pantry AND bathroom!
Way cuter than plastic if you’re into a farmhouse look.
These are actually plastic but the wooden cover offsets that look, and allows you to stack them!
