List #77 - 5 things that cure a bad day that are NOT backed by experts or science of any kind, but that I have tried and can verify work very well

Sometimes there is no mantra. No workout. No protein-packed smoothie or self-help book that can cure a bad day. Sometimes we must face the fact that only pure superficial joy is what we need. This is a list filled with the likes of which cannot be found in your favorite motivational podcast. Enjoy.

  1. Buying shit you don’t need

    I say this generally, because I’m not ruling out any categories here. My personal favorite things to buy on a bad day are 1.) shoes 2.) vintage brass hooks or hangers for our house 3.) skincare 4.) cute sweaters and jackets.

  2. Ordering takeout for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

    I have done this many times. My preferred order is Starbucks or Peets, then sushi or sandwiches, and Sweetgreen for dinner.

  3. Venting angrily to yourself in your bedroom

    Such a real joy. No holds barred, and make it very petty. I also like to vent to my mother in such situations.

  4. Watching the first and second seasons of RHONY (IYKYK)

    In my opinion, no one can out-crazy Simon and Alex.

  5. A beauty haul

    Buy. Every. Serum. Go crazy. Then use them in a 15-step skincare ritual and you’ll feel so much better.
