List #82 - 5 handbags from function to fashion and in between

There are few things (in my opinion) in life as crucial as having the right handbag. I believe that a bag can make an outfit, but the magic it is has to serve two distinct purposes. It has to function in some way and it has to feel like a distinct style that fits the vibe of what you’re wearing. Handbags are very important to me. Here are five distinct handbags that meet the criteria of function and fashion, and that I think should be in our closets. Obviously, this is a practice so don’t go buying them all at once! Some are more expensive than others, but all have been tried and tester by yours truly. And I stand by what I say.

  1. Dagne Dover Landon Carryall

The master of neoprene made beautiful, I first discovered Dagne Dover over five years ago and have been recommending them to friends ever since. Their color palette is stunning and the flexible neoprene is so practical (can be washed!). I recommend their classic Landon Carryall as your first purchase, as it comes in multiple sizes and is so versatile.

  2. Coach Tabby Shoulder Bag

Coach is another mainstay brand in my life. Even before its renaissance in 2025, I bought and used Coach bags. The Tabby is their pièce de résistance and is a great gateway bag into higher luxury categories, while still maintaining the level of sophistication.

  3. Prada Explore

Others may point you to the Prada Mini Re-Edition, but as your friend I will push you away from this bag until you’ve closely “explored” (apologies!) the Prada Explore. Practical yet oh-so-chic, the Prada Explore is the epitome of functional luxury with an intellectual twist. This is a forever bag, so invest wisely.

  4. Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag

I’m including the Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag here because I believe wholeheartedly that the brand has performed some sort of witchcraft on this bag. It fits SO MUCH STUFF for being so small and is the BEST airport crossbody bag I swear.

  5. Beis Mini Weekender

I specifically include the Mini Weekender here because the larger size feels too heavy and impractical, ironically even for a weekend away. The Mini size is a great travel bag and work bag, and I love the canvas. Shay Mitchell really knows bag construction, I just wish the larger Weekender fit more! But maybe I’m just an overpacker…
