List #51 - Things I do on December 26

It’s one of the more depressing days of the year. December 26th. The Brits have boxing day, we seem to just have hangovers and wrapping paper to clean up. Here are five things I do the day after Christmas to feel better, when I’m not traveling.

  1. I keep my morning routine pretty much the same.

This means a longer walk, a run, or some type of exercise. Note: I do NOT enjoy this in the moment, but it really saves my brain afterward. I also listen to the happiest podcast. Not the most productive or “educational” one. I recommend Good Hang with Amy Poehler.

  2. I have my glimmer first.

Cinnamon rolls for breakfast. That holiday latte from Starbucks that every biohacker says is terrible for you.

  3. I take out the trash and recycling while listening to another happy podcast.

It helps “clears the air” and I always feel a little more put together afterward.

  4. I wash my hair, do my skincare, and get out of pajamas.

Just to feel a little prettier. It helps.

  5. I make a fresh to-do list while watching one of my safety shows (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Homeland).

Per an earlier list, breaking down the next few days into smaller tasks helps me feel on track even if I’m physically tired. It takes 10 minutes of my day but a load off my mental state.
